Pharmacological activity:
The active substance of the veterinary drug is amoxicillin, which is a semi-synthetic antibiotic from the group of penicillins with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity.
Pathogens that are sensitive to amoxicillin are listed below: Bacteroides spp., Brucella spp., Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp.,Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Escherichia coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Haemophilus spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., etc., except β-lactamase-producing strains.
The bactericidal mechanism of action of amoxicillin is based on inhibiting the activity of the enzyme transpeptidase, which leads to disruption of cell wall synthesis and destruction of the bacterial cell.
After intramuscular administration of the drug, the maximum concentration of amoxicillin in the blood is reached within 1–2 hours and remains at therapeutic levels for up to 48 hours. Amoxicillin is excreted from the body primarily by the kidneys and partially by the liver in unchanged form.
Dosage:
The drug is administered once intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight, which corresponds to 15 mg of amoxicillin trihydrate per 1 kg of animal body weight. If necessary, the injection is repeated after 48 hours. Do not inject more than 20 ml of the drug at a single site for cattle, 10 ml for pigs, and 5 ml for calves, goats, sheep, and carnivores.
Before use, the vial with the drug should be thoroughly shaken until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.
