Veterinary drug DYTIOX


Prevention and treatment of vitamin E and selenium deficiency in cows, calves, pigs, piglets and rabbits

Therapeutic indications:

DYTIOX is indicated for cattle, pigs and rabbits for prevention of diseases, caused by vitamin E and selenium deficiency; for treatment of white muscle disease and hepatic dystrophy in calves and piglets; for metabolism stimulation; for increase of liver detoxification function; for improvement of fertility of females and increase of natural resistance of growing stock.

Composition of the veterinary drug:

1 ml of DYTIOX solution for injection contains:

  • Vitamin E 50 mg 
  • Selenium 1 mg as active substances;

Pharmacological activity:

Active substances of DYTIOX are micronutrient selenium and vitamin E.

Microelement selenium participates in functioning of antioxidant enzymes that prevent the formation of peroxide compounds in animal cells and tissues, maintaines homeostasis, enhances immune protection, promotes the absorption of vitamin E.

Vitamin E is a biological antioxidant, which protects cell membranes, carotene and vitamin A molecules from oxidative damage, improves adaptive processes in the body. Vitamin E is necessary for the inclusion of selenium in the active center of glutathione peroxidase, which neutralizes lipid hydroperoxides.

Dosage:

DYTIOX is administered once by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in the following doses:

Animals

15-20 ml/animal

0.5 ml/10 kg body weight

For large animals, 20 ml is a maximum volume that should be injected in a single injection site.

For the convenience of using small volumes of the drug, it can be diluted with water for injection or saline solution, then after thoroughly mixing, it can be administered.

If necessary, the treatment of animals is repeated in the same doses, but not earlier than 10 days after the first use of the drug.

Before mass treatment of animals, each batch of the drug should be tested for tolerability on a small group (3-4 heads). In the absence of complications, the entire livestock is treated within 1 day.

Precautions and adverse reactions:

When using the drug in accordance with this instruction, the veterinary drug, as a rule, doesn’t cause side effects and complications. In animals with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions may occur. In this case, the use of the drug is discontinued, if necessary, antihistamines are prescribed, symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Do not use in animals with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Do not use in animals that have been treated with other drugs containing selenium for the last 10 days.

In case of the overdose of the veterinary drug,  ataxia, dyspnea, anorexia, abdominal pain (gnashing of teeth), hypersalivation, cyanosis of visible mucous membranes, and sometimes skin, tachycardia, increased sweating, and hypothermia may occur. Exhaled garlic-scented air and the same skin odor. In ruminants – hypotension and atony of the pancreas, in pigs – vomiting, pulmonary edema. In this case, the drug is canceled and symptomatic treatment is prescribed. There are no specific antidotes.

Do not use the drug in conjunction with muscle relaxants. Do not mox the drug in one syringe with other drugs.

After the first administration and cancellation no peculiarities are revealed.

The possibility of using the drug during pregnancy and lactation is determined by veterinarian, weighing the possible benefits against the possible risk of using the drug.

Withdrawal period:

Milk for human consumption may be taken without limits.

Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption within 10 days after the last treatment. Meat and by-products of animals forcibly slaughtered earlier than the specified period may be used for feeding carnivores.

Storage conditions:

Store in a dark place at a temperature of 2 °C to 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.

Shelf-life:

Shelf-life of the veterinary drug under appropriate storage conditions is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Shelf-life after first opening: 28 days.
