Veterinary drug SPECTALIN
Therapeutic indications:
The drug is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases in calves (BRD) and pigs (SRD) caused by the pathogens sensitive to the components of the drug (colibacillosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, dysentery, bordetellosis, mycoplasmosis, etc.)
Composition of the veterinary drug:
1,0 ml of the drug contains:
Pharmacological activity:
The drug has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action.
The active substances of the drug are active against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Bordetella spp., Haemophilus spp., a также Mycoplasma spp., Brachyspira (Treponema) hyodysenteriae, etc.
Lincomycin is an antibiotic of the lincosamide group. Depending on the drug concentration in the body and the sensitivity of microorganisms lincomycin has not only bacteriostatic, but also bactericidal action. Lincomycin binds to 50S ribosomal subunits of lincomycin-sensitive microorganisms that leads to the disorder of peptide chains formation. The cross-resistance is possible with macrolides.
Spectinomycin is an aminocyclic antibiotic that affects bacteriostatically spectinomycin-sensitive microorganisms due to the protein synthesis suppression at the ribosomal level.
The active substances of the drug are well-absorbed and penetrates into many organs and tissues. The maximum concentration of antibiotics in the blood is reached in 3-5 hours after the drug administration. Lincomycin and spectinomycin are excreted from the organism in unchanged form with urine and faeces.
Dosage:
The drug is administered intramuscularly at a dose of:
Precautions and adverse reactions:
Do not use the drug in animals with severe liver and kidney dysfunctions, as well as in animals with hypersensitivity to lincomycin and spectinomycin, in springer cows, farrowing sows.
In rear cases symthoms of allergic reactions may occur (redness of the skin). However, there is no need in the drug cancellation. These symptoms disappear naturally within 4-8 days.
Do not use the drug simultaneously with macrolides, antibiotics of the penicillin and cephalosporin groups.
After the first administration and cancellation, no peculiarities of the drug use are revealed.
Withdrawal period:
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption before 14 after the last drug administration. Meat of animals forcibly slaughtered earlier than the specified period expires may be used for feeding carnivores.
Storage conditions:
The drug should be stored in a dark place at a temperature between + 2 °C to + 25 °C. The drug should be kept out of reach of children.
Shelf-life:
Shelf-life of the veterinary drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Shelf-life after the first opening of the bottle is 28 days under appropriate storage conditions.
