Therapeutic indications:

Veterinary drug BAG-Amoxicillin LA  is used in large and small livestock, pigs, carnivores to treat infectious diseases of the respiratory (including bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, rhinitis), digestive (including gastroenteritis, enterocolitis) and urogenital (including metritis, mastitis, endometritis, cystitis, urethritis), pyelonephritis and skin infections, peritonitis and other diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin.

Composition of the veterinary drug:

1 ml BAG-Amoxicillin LA suspension for injection contains:

  • 150 mg of amoxicillin trihydrate

Pharmacological activity:

The active substance of the veterinary drug is amoxicillin, which is a semi-synthetic antibiotic from the group of penicillins with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity.

Pathogens that are sensitive to amoxicillin are listed below: Bacteroides spp., Brucella spp., Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp.,Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Escherichia coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Haemophilus spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., etc., except  β-lactamase-producing strains. 

The mechanism of bactericidal activity is based on the on the blocking of bacterial cell wall synthesis. By an intramuscular administration, the maximum plasmatic levels are recorded after 1-2 hours. The veterinary drug is excreted mainly by kidneys in unchanged form.


Therapeutic dose of BAG-Amoxicillin LA is same for all indicated animals and it equals to 1 ml on 10 kg live body weight (15 mg on 1 kg live body weight). It is administered only by intramuscular injection. The veterinary drug can be administered again after 48 hours if it is necessary.

No more than 20 ml should be injected in a single injection site for bovine cattle, 10 ml – for pigs, 5 ml – for small cattle, dogs and cats.

Before use, the drug must be shaken thoroughly until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.

Precautions and adverse reactions:

Do not use in animals which are known to be hypersensitive to penicillins, as well as in case of impaired renal excretory function.

Do not use simultaneously with antibiotics from groups of tetracycline, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.

When using the drug in accordance with the instructions, side reactions and complications are generally not observed, however, in animals with increased individual sensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins, allergic reactions are possible. In case of allergic reactions, the drug is canceled and, if necessary, antihistamines and calcium preparations are prescribed. In rare cases, there may be tissue edema at the injection site, which resolves spontaneously within 1-2 days.

In case of an overdose of the drug, functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract, refusal of food, vomiting, deterioration of the coordination of movements of the animal, swelling at the injection site are possible.

The peculiarities of the action of the drug during its first use and cancellation are not identified. If dose is missed, resume the drug use in the same dosage and according to the same treatment regimen.

The drug can be used by female animals during pregnancy and lactation.

Withdrawal period:

Milk for human consumption may only be taken after 7 days from the last treatment. Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption within 28 days after the last treatment. Meat of animals forcibly slaughtered earlier than the specified period may be used for feeding carnivores.

Storage conditions:

Store in a dry, dark place at a temperature of +5C to +25C.


Shelf-life of the veterinary drug under appropriate storage conditions is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
